Charities Week - Update

In the two weeks leading to the end of last term our annual fundraising for charity began, organised and led by our Year 13 Charities Prefects and the Charities Team. Events such as student-led lessons, Santa's Grotto, Elf Auction and various other competitions were held, finishing with an exciting Student vs Teacher Dodge Ball Game in the sports hall.

The final day of term was a non-uniform day for which each student brought in a £1.00 donation.

Our Charities Team chose three local charities to support through these fundraising events. They are:

Mission EmployAble is a charity that St Clement Danes have proudly supported in previous fundraising events and continue to raise money for this year. The charity focuses on supporting individuals with learning disabilities and autism to gain employment and lead independent lives. The organisation aims to bridge the employment gap by providing personalised job coaching, vocational training, helping interns develop the skills and confidence necessary to secure and maintain meaningful employment.

Sal's Shoes is the second charity chosen who collect gently-worn, outgrown shoes and redistributes them to those who cannot afford proper footwear.
We kindly requested you to put aside any shoes no longer worn for a Shoe Collection Drive which took place in the month of September. We encouraged each student to bring in one or more pairs of their old shoes, which were still in good condition and suitable for further use. This act of giving will not only make a significant impact on the lives of those less fortunate but also reinforce the values of empathy and philanthropy within our school community.

The final charity chosen this year is Bone Cancer Research UK, a charitable organisation dedicated to improving the lives of individuals affected by primary bone cancer. They fund vital research projects focused on finding better treatments, developing new therapies and ultimately striving for a cure. The organisation also actively raises awareness about bone cancer and advocates for improved care and support services.

We are delighted to confirm that a staggering £11,623.65 has been raised to be shared between our chosen charities. Thank you so much for your participation and huge generosity in making our charities initiatives a success, we really appreciate your support in helping us to make a difference to the lives of people worldwide.
